‘Niche down’ is good advice.

In my experience, however, niching down can happen when you have data. We are humans, after all. We need some validation that our chosen niche is the right one.

You know… some sign it’s actually working?

Without data, niching down feels like walking a tightrope. One mistake, and you are toast.

During this transition phase of gathering data, how do we approach content creation?

We cannot wait, with hands on our hips, for the niche to reveal itself. Content creation goes beyond audience building. Content creation is a way to clarify our thinking, create IP, and develop our unique POV.

The answer lies in frustration and curiosity.

You may not know the exact demographics you are serving. Yet.

Maybe you are unsure if you will end up working with the manufacturing sector or healthcare.

But you do have a craft. And you probably have some frustrations around it.

Within your craft, you can see what is broken. Create content around that.

And then there is curiosity. What fascinates you? What are you drawn to explore? Create content around that.

The niche will emerge. And when it does, you will already have a library of frameworks, IP, and POVs ready to go.
