As I placed my order, I said to the restaurant owner, “Bhaiyya (brother), I have acidity issues. Please make sure it’s not very spicy, yeah?”
To which he replied – “Okay, sure. But acidity is rarely caused by anything spicy. It happens because we over-eat.”
It made my eyes go wide.
Was he objectively right? Not really.
The science doesn’t matter. Atleast at this point and for the sake of this example.
But his sentence made me question my beliefs. It made me stop in my tracks and re-evaluate my life decisions. Somehow, what he said had struck a nerve. It made me feel, “Whoa… maybe this is the answer to my problem.”
That is what a unique POV is. It makes your audience think. It makes them question their reality, and if you do your job well, they will adopt a new point of view.
