The Marketer at a Startup organization, especially a bootstrapped one, needs to play the role of an Advisor. He can imagine himself to be the “King’s Advisor”.

He plays such a crucial role in the organization.

This Marketer needs to ask difficult questions to the CEO. He must discuss with the CEO when he doesn’t agree with him. He isn’t supposed to be a sheep and say, “Please tell me about the Business strategy, so that I can prepare the Marketing strategy”. 

Instead, he needs to have meetings (which could become unpleasant at times), and take charge of the business strategy as well.
