When an idea starts working, there are 10 more people who take up the same idea. Well… because it works. They now have a road-map. They now know that it works.

This competition can make us insecure, only if we let it.

How do we deal with this?

All of us need to keep on re-inventing ourselves.

You started a bakery only for vegans. It was scary. You wouldn’t know if it would work or not. You still took the leap. You put your blood, sweat, and tears into it. And it worked.

It worked out really well for you. People started buying, business was booming. And then there was another bakery that was opened, just 5 km away. They started offering almost the same quality food that you do, at a lesser cost. It is always easier to do this. Easier to do something when it has already been done.

So what do you do now?

Despair? No.

You re-invent. You probably go from being a vegan bakery to being a vegan hotel. Or you start an e-commerce portal. And so on…

Easier said than done, right? How exactly do you reinvent?

The process of reinventing and being irreplaceable starts with being open to failure. Playing it safe, takes us nowhere. Looking for a roadmap won’t help. While creating a roadmap, we will have to fail multiple times… and then we might stumble upon success. If you want to be one-step-ahead, be open to failure.. to doing things that others are scared to do.
